SAFETY OF YOUR BIKE AND PEDESTRIANS

Places such as the District of Columbia records an average of 265 bicycle and 600 pedestrian crashes every year.  Hence the government’s efforts to improving bicycle and pedestrian safety have increased.
The Metropolitan Police Department, in cooperation with an organization committed to improving safety on the roads, has given away helmets to children under 16 years of age.  This has now become a requirement by law and children in this age group, accompanied by adults, could visit their local police stations in order to have their helmets fitted.


Bicycle Laws and Regulations
The DC Council has enforced several regulations in connection to bicycling. The District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR) has specific bicycle regulations, together with a list of moving violations for all vehicles. .
